Why should start blog

Why would you want to do something that only fools do?

After all, you do know everyone thinks blogging is for fools, right? Something must have convinced you to click that headline and read this article. Was it curiosity? Have a friend that blogs? Wanted to learn what blogging is?

I’ll admit I didn’t have a clue what blogging was for the longest time. And once I learned what it was, I was a skeptic, one of those judging people who thought blogging was only for fools – until I met and dated a blogger.  She convinced me that there are good reasons why you should start a blog. And then something amazing happened. I pushed my judgements to the side and learned how powerful blogging can be. I then started a blog and it changed my life forever!

If I can give you one piece of advice, it’s to push any pre-conceived notions about blogging to the side and try it to see if it’s for you. I did and it was one of the best decisions of my life. After all, what do you have to lose. Here are 13 reasons why you should start a blog:

1) You Get To Help Others

I cannot think of a better reason to do something. I have realized that I can emotionally connect with others through my blogging. It’s a powerful thing. My blogging touches people in ways I never imagined. I take great joy in providing other with suggestions and recommendations that they can use to better themselves. It need not be life changing advice either for it to leave a lasting impression on readers, it could be a simple problem you’re helping them solve.

2) You’ll Strengthen Yourself

Blogging will strengthen you in many ways. Growing up I was shy and introverted. Over the years, the shyness wore off but I still considered myself to be introverted – until I started blogging. When I began blogging I quickly realized that my life experiences are unique and that they are valuable learning tools for others. There’s a rush associated with the positive comments you receive every time you share something and it does wonders for one’s confidence. I have also found that blogging has increased my creativity. I envision creating things that once seemed out of reach.

3) It Will Improve The Way You Think

In today’s age, we are subconsciously looking for efficiencies in everything we do. Technology is making this possible but at the same time, we are becoming more lazy and reliant on technology.  Writing causes me to think more deeply, especially knowing that thousands of people will be reading and scrutinizing what I write. I search for the root causes of a given situation, not just the surface causes. Looking at things on multiple levels also causes me to read more. This, in turn, helps me to see a complete picture and permits me to write a more convincing argument. It has taught me how to deeply reflect on life.

4) You’ll Inspire Others Through Your Blog

People all around the world will find inspiration in your writing. Blogging will not only motivate you to change your life, it will inspire others to improve their lives and encourage them to discover their true potential. You’ll be seen as a leader and people will want to emulate your success. Ordinary people like you and I have the ability to accomplish extraordinary things in other people’s lives through blogging.

5) Blogging Is So Easy

6) You’ll Meet New People & Make New Friends

Since I began blogging I’ve met so many people who I would not have otherwise met. You will be surprised at how many people you’ll meet in such a short time. I have met way more people since I began blogging than I met in my entire life before blogging. Many started out as complete strangers and commented on something I wrote about on my blog such as a similar experience. I now consider several of these people close friends. There are many wonderful and amazing people in the world and blogging is one way to meet similar people quickly.

7) It’ll Motivate You

When I began writing about issues that I hold true to my heart, particularly fitness, and personal finance, my motivation skyrocketed. It was just not my motivation for writing that skyrocketed but my motivation for everything in life.  I began doing everything with more purpose, more drive, more determination. Reaching all of my other goals has become much easier and I no longer feel tired during the day if I don’t get 8 hours of sleep.  I believe the motivation and inspiration I experience are related to the high I get from helping others and I can’t get enough!

8) It Will Improve Your Health

Blogging is a big stress relief for me. Everyone has problems, including you and I. Whether it’s family, health, relationships, or finances causing you problems, blogging allows you to get things off you chest and provides an outlet for you to receive meaningful feedback from others who are going through or who have experienced similar problems.

9) It Gives You Power

Blogging gives you a platform to voice your thoughts and opinions and the world is your audience. This provides you with the potential to become a very influential person. This can even go as far as helping you to influence public policy if you can build a large enough following of readers.

10) It Makes You Stand Out

Less than 1% of people online produce the content that the other 99% read every day. Right away this turns you into an influencer instead of a consumer, a leader instead of a follower. You will build trust with your readers and eventually position yourself as an expert and leader. And if you are part of the 1% who produces valuable content that people cannot get enough of, you’ll stand out even more and begin to gain celebrity status. At that point, the sky’s the limit for what you can achieve.

11) It’ll Make You Happy

I have found that helping and inspiring others gives me more satisfaction than anything else. I’ve heard many other people say the same thing. There is a rush that I get every time someone posts a comment or writes me an email telling me how something I have written has changed their life in some way. It’s a feeling that cannot be replicated.

12) It Can Give You Freedom

People were not born to be tied to a 9-5 rat race all of their life. At some point, the vast majority of people will desire a change. They’ll wish they had the freedom to choose how they live their life. Many people never get to this point because of external financial or social pressures. Blogging presents the opportunity to change the conventional way you live your life because if you build a large following and can monetize your blog you can work from wherever you want, whenever you want, however you want.  If I want to go lay on a beach on an island in the middle of the Pacific and work I can. Freedom is a huge reason to start a blog and make it work at producing an income.

13) A Blog Builds Your Legacy

Blogging allows you to document your life. If you don’t tell your own stories, who else will? Everything you put on the Internet today will live on forever, long past you and I. Don’t believe me? Go to Internet Archive and check out what people wrote on Facebook 10 years ago. It remains there even if the author deleted it. How cool is the thought of continuing to influence people’s lives 50 years after you leave this world. A blog can help you build a legacy that will outlive you.
